— Volumetric flow

The speed your hotend keeps up with.

The speed set in the slicer means nothing if the hotend can't melt enough plastic. This compares the flow your settings ask for (layer height × line width × speed) with what your hotend can melt, and gives the maximum speed to set.

A flow test (slicer calibration) gives the real figure.
The reference points from our guide. For another filament, measure your hotend's flow.

Formula and ranges: slicing guide, Speed section. The real ceiling also depends on temperature and on the exact hotend model.

This is a ballpark figure, not a guarantee: your filament's datasheet and your own tests remain the reference. A value looks wrong? Write to us.
